We thoroughly enjoyed this birthday party celebration of Yu Cheng, who is the 2nd bundle of joy to this client. He was so cute and chubby that the guests couldn’t take their hands off him!
Similar to many other clients, this was not the first time I have met this family. The first time was at Yu Cheng’s elder brother, Yu Kang’s first birthday party. That was a couple of years ago. Naturally, I was delighted to be given the task of documenting Yu Cheng’s joyous occasion as well.
Such authentic moments will become more and more valuable with time. Kids grow at such an alarming rate that we tend to overlook so many moments without realising it. Fortunately, we can still return to specific points in the past through photographs. In a way, they are windows, or drawers, to fragments of our memories tucked away in some corner within us. That was what I learnt after going through some life events 🙂

This was an exciting birthday party celebration with a Star Wars theme! How awesome is that? Taking a look at the details, you can easily tell that a TONNE of effort went into organising and getting all the various props. Some possible birthday party ideas and decorations include, a huge Star Wars poster, life-sized standing character cut-outs, costumes for the kids to dress up, themed tableware and even a Star Wars pinata kit! Pokemon Birthday Cakes
We came across some gorgeous custom made Pokemon themed cakes made by Sensational Cakes. The colours really pop, the characters looked perfect and the lettering were beautifully designed in a way that made them appear extra 3D to the eye. Currently, they have 2 designs and personally I prefer the one directly below with Pikachu looking extra cute!
Party City has a range of decorations, balloons, pinata and other supplies at their disposal. Visit their online site for the full range! Note that you may have to use postal services such as Vpost to ship to Singapore as they currently do not ship to international destinations. Be prepared to allow a few weeks for shipping.
Here is a video by Paula Biggs showing how to make your own Pokeballs! I was surprised at how easy it is! And the results were pretty stunning with a glassy and refined look. For favours you can include small Pokemon figurines or candies/snacks in the balls. Check it out!

Having photographed Ryan’s 1st birthday a few years ago, it was a real pleasure to see him and his family again, with him having grown significantly taller. It really means a lot when you look back at photos taken at their first birthdays and compare how they looked like then and now. Such photos definitely bring back nostalgia and because kids grow and develop so quickly, such images get more and more valuable with each passing year.
